Lubbock Baby Shower

Sorry that photo turned out so dark, but what a great spread!! This blog post is also overdue, but I wanted to share some photos from the Baby Shower here in Lubbock, back on March 20th! It was so nice, and I want to thank all of the hostesses for throwing such a wonderful shower! Unfortunately that Saturday morning, the temperature was 28 degrees, the roads were icy, and everything outside was covered in snow! Besides that, it was a great time! :)

Here's another photo of the main table with better lighting - the food was DELICIOUS! And the decorations were awesome! Alley made the CUTE diaper cake (with Baby John's first Texas Tech outfit to boot!) :) And Mandi made the awesome letters hanging on the window that spell out "John"! We hung those up in the nursery yesterday -- they look GREAT on his wall!!
The beautiful hostesses! From left to right: Erin Johnson (it was at her home), Alley Seifert, (me), Laura Asumssen (my sister-in-law), and Mandi Bergman (also my sister-in-law). Thanks again y'all:
A close-up of the cute letters Mandi made (she also made us some cute burp rags, a hooded towel, and a super cute shopping cart cover... so talented!!!):
The clothes line with little monster outfits... LOVE it!
A few close-ups of the diaper cake! It was LOADED with little goodies all around it and inside of it... Alley did a fantastic job! So creative! :)

A few of the guests/hostesses... (L to R) Alley Seifert, Tina Latimer (one of my good friends and co-workers), and Lisa Myers (another great friend):
Laura and her Mom (or "Pinkie" as John will call her one day) ;)

Some of the Gaschen Sisters: Mimi, Terry, and Lulu. Thanks so much for coming!

The great foam blocks that Laura made for Baby John -- she is so darn creative with that sewing machine!!! Aren't they cute?!

The basket of homemade goodies for Baby John from his Aunt Laura (yes, Laura made just about everything in there!)

The awesome monster hooded towel that Mandi made - she says it'll fit him when he's about 20 years old ;) haha. So it's a little big, but still SO cute!
My niece Shelby... what a cutie!
My other niece Kinsey, with Laura and Lisa:
The girls playing with their mama (Mandi) at the end of the shower:

Well that's about it! We were showered with SO many wonderful, generous gifts! Thank you so much to everyone! We are so blessed - thank you for helping us prepare for Baby John's arrival (which is supposedly 20 days away still, but my OB says he'll be here sooner... and we agree! So who knows, it could even be any day now! We'll see! And we'll keep you updated...) :) Take care and God bless!

Love,
Abby, Andy, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog :)

Houston Baby Shower

This post is WAAAAY overdue (the shower was on March 13th), but I wanted to share it with you anyways... :)

During the first weekend of Andy's Spring Break (boy do I miss that!), Andy, Wayne-Dog and I drove down to Houston to visit our families and for the Baby Shower that my sister Jenny threw for us! We had a BLAST and are SO grateful for the wonderful, generous gifts we received! The shower was great fun (serving wine and margaritas at the shower probably didn't hurt either)! ;-) And Jenny and Mom worked so hard with all the food, games, and decorations! It was jungle themed - even the invites were super cute!

We just wanted to say a special THANK YOU to Jenny and Mom, as well as all the guests who showered us with an abundance of love and gifts! It had been a while since I had seen some of the guests - I sure enjoyed catching up! Here are some photos to enjoy... Thanks again!

The cute sign-in table with a signature mat that read "Welcome Baby John" for everyone to sign:

The SUPER CUTE diaper cake that Jenny made for us made a great centerpiece for the gift table! It was filled with all sorts of goodies!
The clothes line... can't wait for Baby John to wear these!
This one shows the main room with all the decorations and the abundance of gifts! Thanks again to everyone!
Check out this SPREAD!!! yum!
Cute decorations...
I had to get photos of all our guests... these 3 lovely ladies travelled all the way from San Antonio! Nicki (far right) and I were best friends in elementary school and hadn't seen each other in years! She came with her mom and sister, and our moms are still the best of friends.
More of our guests, including my mother-in-law and aunt-in-law from The Woodlands. So glad so many friends and family could make it!

We played some great games - definitely entertaining! This one was funny - it was making fun of pregnant ladies running/waddling to the potty... :) Everyone was a good sport!

Here, Pam (middle) won the prize for winning the "mystery diaper" game... it was pretty gross but funny at the same time! ;-)

Check out the BEAUTIFUL baby quilt that Mom made!!! Baby John will LOVE this special quilt from his Grandma! It has all these cute animals all over it, and she even made the puppy dog look like our very own Wayne-Dog! :)
Mom and me with the beautiful quilt -- she is SO talented!
Jenny and me with the super cute (and loaded!! the photo doesn't do it justice) diaper cake she made!
The Bergman Girls - thanks again, Jen and Mom!
A little belly photo... our profile shot at 31 weeks:
How handsome is this little guy and his mama! Our nephew Ethan was instant entertainment at the shower - all the ladies loved him (and his shirt)!
Playing with Grandma in the tissue paper after the shower -- so much fun!
Here he is the morning of the shower... what a cute kiddo!
Uncle Andy and Ethan up early on Saturday morning... Aunt Abby was jealous that Uncle Andy got to snuggle him!
And of course Wayne-Dog LOVED seeing his cousins Mia (below) and Zoei!
All the pups running and playing together:
We had such a WONDERFUL weekend down in Houston! Thanks again for EVERYTHING! Hope this finds each of you doing well. Take care and God bless!

Love,
Abby, Andy, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog

P.S. Our countdown has just one month to go!!! :-D

50 Days To Go!

WOW! It's hard to believe that we'll finally get to meet our precious son in just 50 days!!! :-D We're so excited and grateful for the blessing that he already is!

This morning, we got to have our last scheduled sonogram, and let's just say that Baby John is already stubborn like his ol' mom and dad -- I guess he comes by it honestly! :) He would NOT move his arm from in front of his face, no matter what we tried to do to get him to move... so at first we weren't getting any good pictures of his face. When Dr. Hales came in to check everything over (and we are so very pleased to share that everything is looking great so far! Praise God!), he was finally able to capture a few shots of Baby John's little face! We still can't believe that technology these days lets us see our little guy so clearly before he's even born! So here are his last photos before we get to meet him... in just 50 short days!

CHECK OUT THOSE CHEEKS!

This is the first picture we got where his arm was kind of out of the way -- it looks like he was pouting a little bit since we made him move...

And here's his little profile:

That's it for now... I still hope to post Baby Shower photos if I get a chance to use our computer this weekend. Take care and God bless! And thank you for your prayers and good wishes - we greatly appreciate them all!
Love,
Abby, Andy, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog :)

Snow Dog!

While this post is overdue, I still wanted to share it...

We have sure had some crazy winter weather lately in West Texas - until last week, it had become like clockwork to get a snow storm every Thursday. Then last week it snowed on Tuesday, and now there's a chance we'll get some tomorrow... there's no tellin'! The moisture has been great, though it makes it difficult to figure out when to wash your car! (and mine desperately needs a bath!!) But Wayne-Dog has REALLY enjoyed the snow! He's turned into quite the snow dog!

I now work half-day Fridays, so one Friday when Andy's classes were cancelled (a few weeks ago), we bundled up to go play with Wayne-Dog in the snow. When Andy pulled out the snow bibs, I put on the first pair and was quite pleased that I was still able to zip them up (I hadn't worn them in years)! Unfortunately, we quickly realized that I had put on Andy's snow bibs! And in order to squeeeeeze into my pair, I had to lay on the couch and get Andy's help - heck, I was worried we may need a pair of pliers to get that zipper up! ;-)

Long story short, I wasn't able to move very easily out in the snow, and I'm pretty sure Baby John stayed warm because he was so squished! Andy and Wayne wrestled quite a bit, and of course we made snow angels (though I needed help getting up - both because of my growing belly and because I was afraid of busting open the over-stressed seams of my snow bibs)!

Here are some photos from our family snow day, plus a video (if I can get it to work) of Wayne-Dog trying to catch the snowflakes! Too cute!

Andy took this photo when he took Wayne-Dog on a walk while I was at work - the snow was incredible:

Wrestlin'...

Get 'em, Wayne!

Wreck 'em Tech! (and check out Wayne sprinting - I think he was about to tackle Andy) :)

Smile, boys!

Yum! Just don't eat the yellow snow!

A profile shot - though Baby John was definitely squished...

And I tried to upload a video of Wayne-Dog catching/eating the snowflakes, but no such luck... (I think it was too big?? who knows...) so that's it for now! Hope you are all doing well and have a GREAT week! God bless!

Abby, Andy, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog :)

12 Weeks To Go!

Wow! It's sure hard to believe that little John will be here in just 12 short weeks! We are so very excited and can't wait to meet him! He is moving a lot these days, and we are both growing! I feel him move the most in the evening and at night - I think I rock him to sleep when I'm when I'm on my feet all day at work! :)

We have our next (and probably last) sonogram in 3 weeks - we can't wait to see him again and hear his precious heart beat! And man oh man, we can't wait to meet him come May! Here are a couple belly photos (taken last weekend, at 27 weeks) for a quick update:

We also want to wish our Godson and nephew, Ethan Kim, a very Happy 1st Birthday!!! We sure wish we could help you celebrate down in Houston! And Happy Birthday, also, to my Grandpa MJ Bergman! :) Hope this finds the rest of you doing well! God bless!
Love,
Abby, Andy, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog
