Weekend Fun with Old Friends

The week after the Bergman Family weekend, our friends Jared and Katie Bares (and their son, Logan) came into town to visit. We didn't end up going to the Tech vs. Kansas State football game, but we enjoyed "home-gating" instead! We were great friends with Jared and Katie -- and even roommates -- back in college, so we always enjoy catching up. They are also newly expecting -- their second baby is due in May! (Congrats, again!) :)

Speaking of expecting... here's a belly shot at 21 weeks -- we took this photo right before the Bares Family made it to Lubbock.
On Saturday, we all went up to campus to check out all the excitement for the football game. We took the obligatory family photo in front of the Texas Tech Seal. :) Guns Up!

We also took the boys up to see the Masked Rider:
And let them run around in the grass near the stadium:
On the way back to the car, we stopped by this great little ice cream and old-fashioned candy shop called "The Arrogant Texan." They even have Shinerbock ice cream!! John loved looking at all the candy, too!
Throughout the weekend, John and Logan had fun playing togther. From reading books...
To building towers...
To even hanging out with another friend! This was the Bares' first time to meet Jacob Johnson (our friends Ben and Erin's son) -- I love the look on Logan's face:
All three boys!
This one cracks me up -- check out John's face! He's laughing hysterically!
And the weekend ended with bedtime stories with Mrs. Katie:
Well that about sums up that fun weekend! The next weekend, Pinkie came up to visit -- that post is up next! Thanks again to Jared and Katie for making the trip over to Lubbock. Great catching up with y'all as always!

Love,
Abby, Andy, John, Baby Will, and Wayne-Dog :)

Favorite Photo Friday - Snapshot #33

We've had a great week this week! Finally got some cold weather (and our first "snow"! Nothing stuck, but we did witness a few real snowflakes!) -- cold enough for a fire at home -- so it's finally feeling like FALL! I'll keep this post short... nothing special this week, just a good one with lots to be thankful for. Here are my favorites of John this week...

Wanna play ball??

All bundled up for the cold weather!

Mr. Helpful! I got this photo with a text that simply said "Yep" from Andy when I was finishing paperwork up at work Thursday night -- John tried to help Dada add spices to stew for dinner. Ha! :)

One tired guy! During his nap last weekend, we found John like this. Does this mean he's outgrowing his crib? :)

Y'all have a wonderful weekend! Since the Rangers couldn't get the "W" tonight, I suppose I should congratulate my father-in-law on his Cardinals winning the World Series. ;) Take care and God bless!

Love,
Abby, Andy, John, Baby Will, and Wayne-Dog :)

Bergman Family Weekend

A few weeks ago, the entire Bergman family (minus Jae) got together in Lubbock for the Texas Tech vs. Texas A&M football game! We ate a ton, had a lot of fun, and sure enjoyed getting all the cousins together! It was also Andy's first time to meet Owen (Jenny and Jae's 4 month old son) -- he was smitten right away! The weekend only could have gone better if Tech had beat aTm, but oh well....

Group shot! :) (minus Dad... he was behind the camera) :-/
The Aggies in the family... (Dad was an aggie for the day - although he wore neutral green! I'm pretty sure he rooted for A&M mostly to irritate Joe and I) ;) We had a great time, Dad - hope you did too!

Sisters!

Ahhh - beautiful! Nothing better than some Texas Tech football on a cool fall evening with a West Texas sunset!

So on to the rest of the weekend...
Mom, Jenny, Ethan and Owen stayed a few days into the week, but Dad had to head out of town for work. While we had Gramma and Gramps together with all their grandkids, we had to get some photos -- here are my favorite two (out of at least 20 attempts! ha! Thank goodness for digital cameras instead of film!)

...And John decided he was done... I love Dad's (Gramps') expression!

Now one of just the kiddos -- not too shabby!

Movie Star! Here's John in my J-Lo glasses:

Owen! He was laughing at Gramps -- it was too cute! He has such a great smile!

Uncle Andy playing soccer with Ethan and Shelby in the backyard:

The boys (Ethan and John) building towers together -- translation: Ethan builds, John destroys :)

There's a story behind this one... and if you've been around John lately you'll appreciate it! He's got an obsession with STARS. Seriously, he loves the shape! He points it out all over -- in our Texas room, on t-shirts, in the community, on tv, ANYWHERE! And when he sees one, he says in his sweet little voice (and often shouts) in excitement, "Dar!" :) While Jenny and the boys were here, we set up the pack-n-play... which of course had stars on it. The patch he's pointing to had at least 15 stars on it, and he pointed them out one by own, barely having time to take a breath in between -- "Dar! Dar! Dar! Dar!" :) I'm sure this explanation doesn't do it justice, but I had to share it because it is just too cute! One of these days I'll figure out how to upload a video of it, but this will have to suffice in the meantime:

Gramma made these hats for the boys -- so handsome!

Two cousins gettin' into trouble on the iphone. E was actually showing John a game, it was cute:

I was able to take a day off work during the week to spend extra time with family. So we took a little trip to the park by our house:

John-Boy!

Ethan!

Shelby!

Kinsey!

Peek-a-boo:

Group photo (minus Gramma):

Love this one -- check out Ethan and Shelby posing:

As we headed back home, we asked Ethan to go get John - it was sweet. He's such a good big brother/big cousin:

Now we have to close with sweet Owen! Here he was flirtin' with his Mommy...
And cracking up! He has such a sweet laugh:

That's about it! I know Jenny, Mandi and Mom probably have more photos, but I thought I'd share what I had. We had a WONDERFUL weekend and are so grateful for family time! Thanks to Mom, Dad, Jenny, Ethan and Owen for making the big trip up to Lubbock. Love y'all and miss y'all!

Take care and God bless -- have a great week and a happy early Halloween!
Love,
Abby, Andy, John, Baby John, and Wayne-Dog :)

Catching Up: Remembering September 11th

In an effort to catch up, here are several photos from September 11th, 2011. Each year, one thousand American flags are set up at a park here in Lubbock as a memorial. It's pretty powerful stuff, and very humbling to say the least. On the 10th anniversary, we first attended Mass, then spent a lot of the day watching the presentation of the new memorial and various documentaries/footage of that horrid day. Then we took a trip down to the flags -- and took a few photos, of course!

John and Momma, walking hand-in-hand:
Peek-a-boo!We tried to get a photo with me and the boys, but neither were interested in posing -- they wanted to explore!
Wayne-dog's Border Collie herding instincts kicked in to help us keep an eye on John:
Love this one -- see John's little "Guns Up!"?
God Bless America!

Love the innocence in this photo!
Funny guy!
Even though the flying flags are beautiful, I also thought the solemnity of these flags hanging down was fitting for the day:
Dada and John-Boy!My favorite three boys:
Love it!
Our All-American Dog!
We are so grateful for the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. As we remembered what happened 10 years ago, we hope and pray for their continued safety and resilience! Y'all take care and God bless!

Love,
Abby, Andy, John, Baby Will, and Wayne-Dog :)
