Summary of our Summer! (...so far) - Part 1

Hi everyone!


I thought I should go ahead and finally post, seeing that we've had this blog for a while now... while we don't have kiddos yet to post about, I thought I'd do a quick summary of our summer 2009 so far! It's been a whirlwind of fun, family, and (of course) school!



First, Andy, me, and Wayne (our new border collie who found us back in April... he's been such a good dog!) took a quick weekend camping trip to Copper Breaks in north central Texas during the first weekend of May. It was a celebration trip for Andy finishing his first year of Law School -- he did GREAT! We had a wonderful time and Wayne-Dog discovered how much he loves the outdoors and wide-open spaces (beyond our backyard)!

We went on some great hikes...
And caught some great fish!

Next, I "graduated" from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in May with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy (well, at least I walked at the graduation ceremony... my program isn't complete until August 6 -- not that I'm counting down the days or anything). ;) All of the Bergman families came and most of the Hefferly's were able to make it as well! We're so blessed to have such a supportive family! Here are a few photos from the fun weekend:

Notice how nice the weather was on Friday at Convocation?? On Graduation day (Saturday), it was nothing but gray skies and rain! Oh well... At least Wayne-Dog made it into our "family picture" on Graduation day:



And here is the entire family that made it to my graduation -- thanks to everyone for being there! It meant a lot to us!

The week after graduation, Andy's parents (Mark and Terry Hefferly) planned the Hefferly Annual Vacation in South Padre Island, Texas -- we had an AWESOME time!!! None of us had been there before, and we got to do and see SO much! Not all of the Hefferly kiddos could make it, so the trip included: Mark and Terry; Laura, her husband Mark, and their boys Kolbe and Reagan; Dave; and Andy and me. Nothin' like quality family time and beautiful beaches! We all also enjoyed being a part of Kolbe and Reagan's first trip to the beach... Thanks again for taking us!!!

We got to go parasailing -- it was a BLAST! Laura took some photos for us while we were hundreds of feet up in the air...

The family photo we took at a Mexican-American battlefield we stopped at on the way back to the airport -- it's a Hefferly Family tradition to stop at a historical site on every vacation. Thanks again for everything!

NEXT (and last for this post!), we took a long weekend trip to the Frio River on our 3rd annual Bergman Family River Trip. It's so nice to be able to get all the families together -- everone was there (Mom and Dad; Jenny, her husband Jae, and their son Ethan; Joe, his wife Mandi, their daughter Shelby (and daughter #2 on the way! :)); and Andy and me)! This year, the water was low so we didn't end up floating the river -- instead we played in the water in front our our rented river cabin, feasted at every meal, and enjoyed time with the family. Not to mention, we of course spoiled Ethan and Shelby. :) Thanks for everything, Mom and Dad -- we had a GREAT time!!!

I failed to take any pictures on this vacation :( which is a first for me -- I usually take TOO many photos! Luckily, Mandi emailed the family photo to me... If you want to see more photos, Jenny and Mandi both made some great Facebook albums.

Well that catches us up to the start of June! I'll make another post later to cover that month! (don't worry, it won't be nearly as big!) :) Whew... it's been a busy summer but we're so grateful for all the fun trips we've been able to take! Ya'll take care and God bless!
